National Blood Donor Week

Saturday July 28 marks the start of National Blood Donor Week, a week where we should all thank those who already donate blood and also help raise awareness about how important it is to find donors.

Figures from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service show that each year more than 1.35 million blood, plasma and platelet donations are made across Australia.

All of these donations help to save lives and considering that one in three people will need blood donated to them in their lifetime, it’s important that people continue to donate.

If you haven’t donated blood before, National Blood Donor Week is the perfect time to start.

If you’re fit and healthy and between the ages of 16 and 70 you could be eligible to donate blood. You can find out whether you’re eligible by clicking here.

One blood donation can help save up to 3 lives, so why not find out more about donating blood to see if you can be a life-saver?
