As we all know there would be there is still a lot of controversy in Bacchus Marsh around our dearly loved Avenue of Honour.
On ANZAC Day there were 30 people out in protest, tying yellow ribbons around the elm trees in the hope that it would have an impact in stopping the trees from getting cut down.
Unfortunately no matter how much we protest though the 11 elm trees look like they are going in order to make way for the Woolpack Road extension.
It will be very sad to see the elm trees go, however the plan is to replace them with new trees that have been cloned from the originals.
Let’s just hope that once the trees have gone that the Avenue of Honour will still remain as one of Bacchus Marsh’s icons.
