In fact, the market has already started heating up and recent figures from CoreLogic have shown that the housing market is strengthening in all corners of the country with both prices and auction clearance rates on the up.
CoreLogic data showed that mainland state capitals home prices rose by 0.5 per cent in the week ending August 28.
House prices were up by 0.8 per cent in Melbourne, 0.2 per cent in Sydney and 0.1 per cent in both Brisbane and Adelaide.
The average national auction clearance rate rose to 76.6 per cent in the last week of August, from 75.2 per cent. Perhaps unsurprisingly, about 80 per cent of homes sold under the hammer were in Melbourne and Sydney.
Sydney recorded an 81 per cent clearance rate from 762 total auctions, and Melbourne recorded a 79 per cent clearance rate from 1,046 auctions.
With a strong and steady market set for the weeks ahead, there will be a lot of people looking to take advantage of the spring frenzy and will be putting their property up for sale.
If you plan on selling this spring, just remember that the way your home presents to buyers is important and the better a property looks, the higher the sales price its likely to achieve.
It’s always worth asking your real estate agent for advice so you don’t spend money unnecessarily, but overall it generally pays to focus on making the property look clean, fresh and ready to move into.
- Cleaning and decluttering
- Making any repairs
- Refreshing walls and floors
- Tidying gardens
