Work begins on Hallets Way Bridge

NewsWork on the Halletts Way Bridge has now begun, signalling a major milestone for the Halletts Way/O’Leary Way Southern Extension project.

The current works will deliver a twin span bridge over the Werribee River that will connect with the rest of the extension and help ease traffic congestion in the area.

Forty-nine piles will be driven 30 metres into the ground to support the new bridge across the Werribee River.

Moorabool Shire Council Mayor Allan Comrie said that the project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the shire’s history.

“The completion of this project will deliver a seamless connection running from Griffith Street in Maddingley through to Links Road in Darley”, Mayor Comrie said.

The current $10m total project commenced in March this year and the expected completion date is by the end of March 2017.

The next stage of the Western Link Road Project is will deliver eastern ramps for Halletts Way from the Western Freeway and a shared pedestrian crossing over the Freeway.

The next stage of the project will cost $12.8 and is expected to commence early next year.
