Help make Bacchus Marsh greener this National Tree Day

national tree dayBacchus Marsh residents are being encouraged to join other green-minded individuals around the country in planting trees on Sunday 31 July for National Tree Day.

The nation-wide event is the biggest community tree-planting and nature care event in the country, and since it launched in 1996, over 3.8 million people have planted 22.3 million native trees, shrubs and grasses.

Planting trees offers many valuable benefits to the local community. There are the obvious aesthetic benefits of having trees and plants in our neighbourhoods, plus practical benefits such as helping with storm water management, reducing the need for air-conditioning and improving air quality.

Trees and plants have also been found to have benefits such as reducing stress and promoting physical activity. Basically, the more trees, the better!

Joining in on National Tree Day is easy. Simply head to the National Tree Day website and search for a local event to join in on, or create one of your own.
