2016 State Budget winners

The 2016 Victorian State Budget has just been released and it’s revealed where money will be spent in the Moorabool region in the next financial year.

The major state funding in the local area will include:

  • $3 million for Bacchus Marsh College
  • $80.7 million to upgrade facilities at six emergency training services, and decommission and remediate the Fiskville Training College site
  • The Government will enhance water and irrigation infrastructure within the Macalister, Bacchus Marsh, and Werribee irrigation districts.
  • $2.94 million to upgrade 15 regional police stations, including the Bacchus Marsh police station.

The local area will also benefit from a number of state-wide projects including job, health and education programs, plus other initiatives.

While some might be disappointed not to see the items they hoped for in the state budget, it is good to see that our region is at least getting improvements it needs for some local facilities.

The complete budget can be viewed at www.budget.vic.gov.au, where there is the option to search by region to how each will benefit from spending and projects.
