This year is the 85th year for the Good Friday Appeal, a popular event that the Bacchus Marsh community gets behind to help raise much-needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital so it can perform miracles for children.
Each and every year, thousands of volunteers give up their time on Good Friday to go door knocking in their local communities and to hold events that help raise money for this very worthy cause.
Since the event begun all the way back in 1931, more than $291 million has been raised.
There will be many volunteers out in force hoping to increase that number this year, and there will also be an event held at the Bacchus Marsh Bowling Club.
The club will be holding a family fun day tomorrow (March 25) with loads of activities for all ages and proceeds going to the appeal.
The event will run from 11:00am till 3:00pm. Entry is $5 and a BBQ lunch and some kids activities are included. There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny and Harry the Octopus. For more information about the event, contact Hayley on 0409 536 873.
Of course if you want to donate you can also do so by donating when someone knocks on your door for the charity or by heading to www.goodfridayappeal.com.au/donate.
If you would like to find out more about why this appeal is so important, where the funds go and see the miracles that the Royal Children’s Hospital performs, then tune into Channel 7 tomorrow to watch their live telecast of the event.
