House and land listings on the real estate portal in 2013 and 2014 received the highest number of visits and enquiries in January when compared to any other month of the year.

In January 2013 visitor numbers peaked at 396,968 for house and land listings, and in 2014 they were at their highest in January again at 253,017.

While this year has broken the pattern, with August being the most popular month for visitors searching for new homes, it’s looking likely that January 2016 will again be a popular time for buyers to looking for a new house to settle into for the New Year.

It’s probably not that surprising to see that January is a popular time to look for a new home. After end of year celebrations start to settle down, people want to begin the New Year with a fresh approach and new goals, and a brand new home is a great place to start.
