Celebrating 20 years of National Tree Day

The Bacchus Marsh community is being encouraged to get behind this year’s National Tree Day, which will be celebrating 20 years on Sunday 26 July.national tree day

National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event and since Planet Ark launched the event in 1996, over three million people have planted 21 million native trees, shrubs and grasses.

So what are the benefits of planting more trees in the community you might ask?

Well apart from the obvious aesthetic benefits of having trees and plants in our neighbourhoods, trees also have practical benefits such as helping with storm water management, reducing the need for air-conditioning and improving air quality.

Trees and plants have also been found to have benefits such as reducing stress and promoting physical activity, so the more trees we all come across on a day to day basis, the better.

If you want to join in on a tree-planting event for National Tree Day then you can find a few events taking place around the Bacchus Marsh region.

You can find all local events and details about them by visiting www.treeday.planetark.org.

Happy planting!
