On this poignant occasion, everyone in Australia is encouraged to reflect on and pay our respects to those brave soldiers who fought for our country all those years ago, and to all of the servicemen and women who have served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations for Australia for the past 100 years.
To this day, the spirit of the Anzacs, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.
If you want to show your respects to the Anzacs on this milestone occasion, there will be a dawn service beginning at 5.45am at the Soldiers Memorial Hall. Breakfast will be available following the Dawn Service at 6.15am (a Gold Coin Donation is kindly requested). Breakfast will be in the Shire Hall.
Email the Bacchus Marsh RSL on rsl.bacchusmarsh.iinet.net.au for any further details and if you don’t live in Bacchus Marsh and would like to know where your closest ANZAC Day service is being held then it’s best to contact your local RSL for information.
If you can’t make it to an ANZAC Day service this year then you may wish to pay your respects by taking a moment’s silence on ANZAC Day to reflect on the sacrifices that many have made, both at home and abroad, to help uphold Australia’s values and way of life.
Lest we forget.
