Bacchus Marsh Drivers Reminded to Stay Safe on the Roads for the Long Weekend

Bacchus Marsh TrafficI’m sure many in Bacchus Marsh are looking forward to the upcoming Queen’s Birthday long weekend, but before the weekend begins I would like to send out a friendly reminder to stay safe on the roads.

According to the Melton & Moorabool Star Weekly, police will be conducting “Operation Regal” this weekend and will be on the lookout for dangerous drivers on the road.

During holiday periods, roads tend to be a lot more congested than usual. Lots of Melbourne-ites make the journey to Bacchus Marsh on long weekends to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and likewise, lots of locals like to head out of town to visit family and friends.

But even though everyone would like to start the holidays as soon as possible, when you knock off of work tomorrow afternoon, there is no need to rush to reach your destination.

The police will be on the lookout for excessive speeding, alcohol and drug-impaired driving, mobile phones, seat belts and fatigue.  All of these things can lead to serious road accidents.

So to all of those planning to be on the roads this weekend (or anytime of year), please remember to be sensible and to follow the road rules.

I hope that everyone enjoys their long weekend, I’m sure there will be plenty on in Bacchus Marsh and surrounds for the first official full weekend of winter!
