The popular hardware store may be a step closing to making a new home in Bacchus Marsh after the Moorabool council approved plans to rezone four hectares of land on the western side of Gisborne Road that is currently zoned as residential.
While the news of a Bunnings Warehouse in Bacchus Marsh might some good to some, it is already causing a lot of debate and discussion in the local community.
If it does get developed it will bring with it a number of positives for Bacchus Marsh, including 85 new jobs and potentially up to a $3.5 million boost to the local economy. The store will also add further shopping choices for Bacchus Marsh and help draw attention to our region.
On the downside however, there is the issue of a Bunnings creating further congestion on Bacchus Marsh roads. Hopefully if Bunnings does get approved for the Gisborne Road location however, appropriate road infrastructure will be built to help accommodate with the increased traffic.
It will be interesting to see if a Bunnings does get the go-ahead at Gisborne Road. We would love to hear what local residents think about having a Bunnings Warehouse at Gisborne Road – do you think it’s a good or bad idea?
