Our team at Professionals Arbee Real Estate would like to wish all Bacchus Marsh residents a wonderful Australia Day this Sunday, January 26. It’s a day when our Bacchus Marsh community can celebrate everything we love about Australia and being Australian. Australia Day is more than fireworks and BBQs (although these are great fun), more than a public holiday, and more than a day to welcome new citizens to our country. It is a day when our Bacchus Marsh community comes together to celebrate the country we love, and are so lucky to be part of.
We’re wondering how you’ll be spending this Australia Day? Do you like to have a sleep-in, wake up to a bowl of weetbix or slice of vegemite toast, throw on a pair of thongs, and mark the day at a BBQ with mates, picnic in the park, or at a local community event?
This year, Moorabool Shire Council’s Australia Day celebrations will be held at the Mechanics Institute in Ballan from 8am. Recipients of Council’s community awards and mayoral awards will receive their accolades. Dr David Stewart is Moorabool’s citizen of the year and Jack Simmonds young citizen of the year, and the Bacchus Marsh Strawberries and Cherries Trail weekend is community event of the year. Dr Stewart, a GP in the area since 1968, was also nominated for his contributions as a doctor and volunteer in Darley and Bacchus Marsh.
This year, those who attend the celebrations in Ballan will also be in for a special visit from Australia Day 2014 Ambassador, Mr Paul Jennings. Known as one of Australia’s great entertainers and a supreme impersonator, we’re sure those who get along to the event will love seeing Paul, and perhaps being treated to an infamous impersonation of Bert Newton, Bob Hawke or Hollywood’s John Michael Howson.
Those in Melton can enjoy the Australia Day celebrations at Willows Historical Park in Reserve Road, Melton, which will include the presentation of community achievement awards from 9.30am.
Our team at Professionals Arbee Real Estate hope all our clients, customers, families and friends have a fantastic long weekend, and enjoy your Australia Day – however you choose to celebrate it.
