Friday the 13th is considered to be bad luck around many parts of the world, and since today is “Black Friday”, does that mean we’re all due for some bad luck?
Not if the Fire Foundation has a say in the matter, as they are currently running a campaign that will hopefully help turn everyone’s luck around.
The ‘Friday The 13th – Unlucky For Some’ campaign is about raising safety awareness and focussing on a particular piece of safety advice each time Friday the 13th/Black Friday rolls around.
The message to remember for this Friday the 13th is to check smoke alarm batteries and make sure that all alarms in your house are working as they should. Remember, smoke alarm batteries should be changed at least once every 6 months.
As well as changing your smoke alarm batteries, it’s also a good idea to think about other preventable accidents or disasters in your house – is your home free of hazards and is it safe and secure?
While Friday the 13th may be bad luck for some, in most cases luck is made and if you do the smart thing around your home, like making sure that your smoke alarms are all in working order then there is no reason why you should have to worry about bad luck.
