A few months ago the famous Blacksmith Forge Bookbarn in Bacchus Marsh reopened its doors after undergoing extensive renovations, and now the neighbouring Blacksmith Cottage and Forge has reopened its doors too!
The Blacksmith Cottage and Forge was closed for several months to allow the building to be restored.
A $66,000 Heritage Victoria grant was use to return the Blacksmith Cottage and Forge to its former glory, with the building originally being built all the way back in 1877.
When the cottage and forge was originally built it was used as a stopover from Melbourne to Ballarat where people could get their horse reshod.
Now the building serves as a great monument to older-times and it is enjoyed by hundreds of visitors and tourists every year.
Now that the Blacksmith Cottage and Forge’s restoration works have been completed it’s a great time to go and visit.
The Blacksmith Cottage and Forge is located at 100-102 Main Street, Bacchus Marsh.
