Keeping healthy and fit is the goal of so many people, however sometimes it’s hard to find the time to fit in exercise into our busy lifestyles.
Finding time to exercise isn’t as much of an issue if you can somehow work it into your daily routine though and that is why more and more people are choosing to leave their cars at home and walk to work or school.
Walking to work has been shown to have great effects on employees’ health and wellbeing and apparently it helps prevent illness and absenteeism as well as making people more productive throughout the day.
To help get the message out there about the benefits of walking to work, and to help raise some money, every year the Cancer Council runs Walk to Work Day.
Walk to Work Day takes place on September 16 this year and on this day, even if on no other, everyone in Bacchus Marsh should try to make the effort to walk to work.
If you don’t live close enough to your work to be able to walk all the way there you can still take public transport and walk part of the way or you could park about 1km from your work and walk the extra distance. If you’re in a rush you could always go for a long walk during your lunch break too.
It’s not hard to fit walking into your day if you make that little bit of effort, so walk to work this Walk to Walk Day!
