I thought I would take a moment to remind Moorabool residents that animal registration is compulsory and that there are some stringent rules around the keeping of pets in the Bacchus Marsh and greater Moorabool area.
Important things to note if you’re a pet owner in Bacchus Marsh:
– Any cat or dog over the age of 3 months must be registered with Council, and any new registration requires the animal to be microchipped prior to registration.
– If you have a previously registered pet, you should’ve already received and paid your registration renewal which was sent out in March. If you have moved and not updated your address and contact details, please contact the Council on 5366 7100.
– Registration tags must be attached to the pet’s collar at all times.
– According to the Moorabool Shire Council, the cost to register a compliant cat or dog is $27.50 per annum ($13.75 for concession card holders). Non-compliant cats registration fee is $82.70 per annum ($41.35 for concession card holders).
You can view more information about the keeping of domestic cats and dogs on the Moorabool Shire Council website here.
