Helping Australia’s Flood Victims

Over the last week Australians have been watching in devastation as towns around the country have been affected by flood waters. But while some images have been simply heartbreaking, it has been amazing to see the spirit Australians have shown, and the general willingness to lend a helping hand.

Even down here in Bacchus Marsh, where we have been fortunate to avoid any real impact from the floods, there have been people everywhere wanting to know what they can do to help. Some people have flown to other parts of the country to help their family and friends, but even if you can’t travel to flood affected areas you can still do your bit to help.
Some families have lost absolutely everything they own in the floods, so if people want to help they can donate clothes other goods  that flood victims may have lost.
Another option is to donate directly to the flood appeals. To donate towards the Victorian Floods simply visit the Red Cross website, or to donate to the floods in Queensland you can donate to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund.
I hope that everyone’s family and friends are safe and away from the floods, and I hope that all of those who are affected can get their lives back to normal as soon as possible.
