Plans for a Bacchus Marsh swimming pool and aquatic centre may not be moving ahead as soon as hoped simply because it may just be too expensive.
An architect has estimated that a new pool complex for Bacchus Marsh could cost $11 million, which is almost double the original $6 million figure estimated by the Moorabool Council.
Apparently the community simply can not afford to spend $11 million on a Bacchus Marsh Aquatic Centre and if that really is the cost then it is unlikely that it will be able to be built.
The council however is trying to get funding pledges for the aquatic centre ahead of the November 27 state election.
Plans for the Bacchus Marsh Aquatic Centre are currently open for viewing. If anyone in the community would like to put their support behind the proposed complex then there will be a meeting this Thursday at 7pm at the Public Hall Supper Room in Bacchus Marsh.
