Hi, my name is Ian McDonald but commonly known as “Macca” within the real estate profession and as “IJ” within my local community of Bacchus Marsh. I have spent virtually my whole working life in real estate (43 years) and I still enjoy every moment of it.

I trust that I can impart, for those interested, some helpful hints pertaining to real estate as well as being able to promote to you one of the best kept secrets for community living – Bacchus Marsh which is virtually in the centre of a triangle embracing Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong – how good is that?

I grew up in Horsham – a provincial town (at that stage), situated in north-western Victoria – (Wimmera) being a country town and learning country town community values.  The benefits of same have stood me in good stead through my long career in which I have been favoured to practice and live in a similar environment.

I am fortunate that my office belongs to the Professionals Real Estate group and through that association I have had the opportunity to become involved on various Boards in order to contribute to the furtherance of our Group’s objective and ideals in real estate.

My career in real estate commenced in 1966 and I have been involved in my own business since 1969. Firstly in Footscray until early 1983 and then in Bacchus Marsh since late 1983. My fascination with real estate led me to becoming a Licensed Auctioneer, Property Valuer and Land Economist whilst other interests have allowed me to become an Associate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, and Associate of the Australian Institute of Arbitrators in an effort to extend my knowledge enabling me to provide a better level of service to my clients and business associates.

I have been privileged to be involved in both the Real Estate Institute of Victoria and Professionals Group both at a state and national level which has enabled my knowledge base to be further extended as well as having the opportunity to contribute to my profession whilst gaining a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

Our family are all grown up with quite a number of grand children who provide a never ending sense of enjoyment and fulfilment.
